Have you ever had a prayer answered?

prayer topics seem to be the bandwagon of the moment so i'm jumping on!

seriously, has anyone here asked for something specific in prayer and actually gotten what they asked for?

what convinces you that you wouldn't have got it in any case?

God answers my prayers daily. When a believer asks anything according to His will, He answers. When we pray out of His will He answers, yes, no or wait. I've had medical miracles with scanned records to prove it, I've had many medical miracles. The greatest was when I was dying of abdominal peritonitus, paralyzed intestines, after a botched surgery. I prayed and asked God to save me. The Spirit of Jesus came to me, healed me, and the next day the miracle of life was amazing! The fever broke, the faulty GI drainage tube was fixed (I was drowning in my own bodily fluids), the tube into my abdomen drained out and the swelling went down, I was lucid. Please oh mighty athiest do not accuse me of being on pain meds, fact was I was alergic to them and was down to almost nothing for pain. I was lost and then was found, dying and then living. I have had a close personal relationship with Jesus ever since.

I had a swift answer to prayer about an hour ago. I needed a place in a drug reabilitation center for a homeless person immediatly. And I needed the homeless person to be ready for treatment. This is no easy task. Especially since I am 75 miles away. I prayed and asked Jesus to please work on the persons heart to bring him to the spiritual place he needed to be to be ready for change. I prayed for a spot to be open, there is not always one open. I prayed for transportation. I prayed for help, and help came swiftly. The person is placed right now in a safe place where he can start working on his problem.

Prayer is a big part of my life. But it is more than just prayer. It is communing with my Maker. Seeking His face, His will, His heart. Worship in music is also a big part of my life. God to me is amazing, awesome, brilliant. The only thing I enjoy more than communing with Him, is enjoying His other creations.

Anyone know about 'cutting'?

i am researching cutting and self-mutilation because i have a close family member who is doing this--she burned her arm last week and it's bad.

i was wondering--i found an article on the internet that talks about support for the person and how some people get relief by using other methods like icing the skin with ice cubs or flicking themselves with rubber bands.. this person is in therapy and in the care of a psyciatrist too but i just wondered how common this is.

her diagnosis isn't even for sure--could be adhd or depression.. any comments on experience with this would be helpful.

Lil you are great proof that there is life after abuse, and that through love nothing is impossible. Your kids are blessed to have you.

My son had a bad case of ADHD and I was the only one in his life that stuck up for him. Everyone wanted to blame him and he could NOT control it. I medicated him until he was able to learn to read and write so he wouldn't get too far behind, but after third grade I took him off the dope.

He did not learn much academicaly but music. Somehow his brain could understand music. He is a type of mild savant musicaly, so he dropped out of school because they refused to teach him in a way he could learn. Now he is almost 18, having wonderful epiphany's about himself, life and learning. He realises I was right, everyone else was wrong (it was NOT his fault), and now he is beginning to learn to deal with the ADHD. He is studying for his GED, and is one HOT amazing musician!

Actually, it was due to his ADHD that I attended my last meeting in 1990! I thought, why the heck am I coming to meetings only to ruin my stinking Walmart shoes chasing Cam through the rocks in the parking lot? Our children ARE wonderful blessings and too good for some stupid two hour elder drivel. They tried that; beat your kid thing with me too. I hated it when I was a kid, hearing them being beaten in the bathrooms, there was no way I would do it to my precious baby.

We ran into a lot of problems getting help for the adolescent cutter. We insisted the police come and remove her from the house, which they did. She was suicidal and her family refused to face it. The authorities had to threaten the mother, since she had custody, to get her to therape, (after being admitted in a treatment center) remove the abuser from the home (a retired COP!) in order for her to be allowed back in the home. The mother wanted her back for the money she recieved. We worked with the girl along with therapists for a year and she stopped cutting, but last contact she still has serious issues. The environment she is in is deplorable. I don't know where she'll end up.

Thank you for sharing that. I'm so glad you have overcome so much. I had a hard time watching that show too on Primetime. Poor girl, did you notice how she has already blocked it out? I did that too. Blocked so much for years.

My husband and I did an intervention last year on a adolescent who was cutting and nothing was being done to help her. There is usually a dead dog laying on the floor somewhere that the family is walking over. Usually sexual abuse that the family is trying to deny. Swift intervention, treatment and removing them from the abusive situation is vital, but sadly the cutter often ends up back at home as if THEY were the ones with the problem.

Girls help!!! What signs when a woman is interested in a guy?

generally i find that if a girl is interested in me she makes it quite obvious by her actions and words.

i'm fine with this.

however there are times when a i really can't tell and this is the problem i'm grappling with at the moment.

THe most accurate way I can explain the ego problem is simply that it is difficult to handle the feeling that the girl feels I'm not good enough for her, that I don't meet the mark. Thinking about it as I write it knocks my self-esteem.

I understand. That is exactly what my husband was explaining to me last night.

IMHO;

The right woman will make you feel like a great man. That is how we compliment each other. Never be with someone who makes you feel like the Society did, not good enough, not worthy etc. There is no justification for abuse. Yelling at someone is abuse.

I made a lot of mistakes to get to where I am today. One important thing; don't compromise who you are for anybody, and WAIT until you meet the right one. The one that makes you feel like a stud and a half. Being with her should make you feel relaxed, comfortable, happy, and right. If you compromise, you might miss the right one while you are dinking around with the wrong one.

A good woman is not interested in a guy who is sleeping around, goes from relationship to relationship. I was alone about six whole years in my prime totally resolved to spend the rest of my life alone and in peace if the right one for me did not come along.

As witnesses we were set up for relationship problems. God has a psychological connection in us as father. So for many of us women we ended up with abusive men because we had a sick relatiosnhip with an abusive god through the Watchtower. On a personal note, I never had a father so I was pretty screwed up in my perception of what a good man was.

I am not sure how that effects men, but I would imagine you have acceptance , esteem issues because of it, on top of the normal guy stuff. If you have a judgemental JW mom, that is going to effect your choice and perception of women too. I looked for this in a man after my 6 year man free rest. My husband has an excellent relationship with his mother. She is an awesome lady. So I would consider the relationship a woman has with her father as important. If she had a bad father, without some kind of therape she is going to take it out on you eventually.

:I still don't get how someone could die for your sins. What could that mean? Could someone a hundred years ago have been beaten up for my crimes? Could I cut my finger off so that future generations don't have to pay parking fines? Is there something else in your belief that raises it above the absurdity of these examples?

God created the earth. He created the original perfect DNA code written, as if in stone for every living thing, then integrated the trillions of organisms to interact and reproduce in a beautiful world. The code regulates this awesome world, deviations are errors in the code, and mutations occure. Adaptation is not deviation. Genes can rearrange but not be broken or the organism malfunctions.

He created a special being with the power to be like Him, to know right from wrong, to be accutly aware of self and everything that He had done in creation. He created us different from every living creature. He gave us something the others do not have, spirit.

He being omnipotent, omnipresent and transends all time and matter knew this special creation would make bad choices. So He prepared to come to us Himself. To show us who He was, to make a way to correct the bad choices. To take the effects of that mistake on Himself.

When we acknowledge that gift He gave us, when we choose to recieve the redemtion we can then come back into that special relationship that He had wanted with us from the very beginning. What He made us for.

Thus Jesus paid the price for every sin ever committed on the earth past present and future. All one needs to do is recieve that free gift in their heart.

1st post, but not new!

hello everyone, been browsing the forum for quite a while now(about a year) and decided its time to post.

i'm male, just turned 36 on the first of april, i've been in a the process of fading for about two years now, not that easy having come from a witness family.

i've been in doubt about this religion for most of my life, but finally built up the courage to stop going to the meetings, finding out now how big and beautiful this world is and realizing how much i missed out on "real" life!.....i started to fade about the time i was being pushed, yes pushed into becoming a ms. i did not want to have that duty, and i say duty, not "privelege" as they would say because thats what it is, a duty!

You have one big mountain to climb to get to the top,....and yes, I so agree, there is a great big beautiful world out here!

After the dubs I have collected such a group of wonderful apostates, Christians, worldy ones, and whatever lables the Soceity would have given them. We share unconditional love and acceptance. All beautiful people in a beautiful world. Just don't ask my athiest mother in law to show you how to get Jerry beads, cause at 67 she will...lol...

Interesting. Thanks for the field report. That is a very low babtism for a district of 900. The anti education and the all powerful evil internet is taking it's toll.

There is just no way you can convince an otherwise healthy person that the entire Internet is evil when you have to use it to access so much.

Banking, shopping, communications of all kinds, business, health insurance, school, even local elementary schools now post class info online, heck you can even do your grocery shopping online now in some areas and have it delivered!

Not that many people left that don't have computer Internet access but for the third world countries. And they will catch up soon!

How long did it take you to get over it?

one of the posters here - before i knew she was a poster here - in fact before i knew of this site at all, sent me an email early on in my exit.

she likened the whole leaving thing with grieving over a dead loved one - said it took most about two years to work thru all the phases of that loss - denial, anger, etc.. i think she had it about right - that's about how long it took me.

but without jwd it would have been longer.

about 3 years of intensive Bible research to untwist the lies.

another 3-4 years to overcome the grief (therape, healing stage)

a couple years to fix the results of bad choices I made while under the Tower's influence

My last meeting was in 1990

My last panic attack was about 6 years ago
